Think you might have mites?

You already know how destructive termites can be, but you might not know that the average colony can consume approximately a pound of wood in a year.

If you have any reason to believe you may have a termite problem, or you are considering buying a home, you should call to have a termite inspection performed. This will typically consist of a visual inspection of both the inside and outside of the home to look for signs of wood that has been destroyed. An inspector will also be on the lookout for other signs that termites are present, including droppings, mud tubes, exit holes and molted wings.

The inspector will also look at the soil around the foundation of the home and also look for wood mulch, tree branches overhanging the home, and any wood features that may be buried in soil or otherwise touching it.
