Just as carpenter ants can cause a great deal of damage to a home, carpenter bees can also be very destructive pests. These are large – about a half an inch long – and have black and yellow coloring. Not only can they cause structural problems, they will also be very aggressive when protecting their nests.
They can literally drill tunnels into the eaves, decking, and siding of your home. If you see a round hole that is about half an inch wide that then goes inward for half an inch before turning sharply, that is a sign you have a carpenter bee infestation. These nests can have many branching tunnels that are used by the queen to store larvae.
If you have a problem, we can apply a pesticide dust to the entrance of the nest. Bees will die quickly, usually within a few minutes of coming into contact with the dust. We can typically eliminate a problem within nine months.
